Lecture / Hands-on Workshop | Thursday, June 24, 2021 | Cambridge, MA
Join Dr. Won Moon, DDS, MS, former Thomas R. Bales Endowed Chair in Orthodontics at UCLA and Founder of the Moon Principles International Research Institute for a comprehensive lecture and workshop on the Micro-implants Supported Mid-facial Skeletal Expander (MSE) - a retrospective overview, the latest developments, and prospective advanced applications.
Lecture topics will include:
Nonsurgical orthopedic expansion in adults with MSE
Craniofacial vs. dentoalveolar changes with MSE
Indications for the use of MSE in children and adults
Improving an obstructive nasal/pharyngeal airway with MSE
Differences in expansion by RPE, SARPE, MARPE, and MSE
Overall concept of MSE, Dx and Tx planning, and patient selection
The MSE is a version of the Micro-implant Assisted Rapid Palatal Expander (MARPE) and was introduced to the market in 2010.
The MSE is capable of producing dramatic (non-surgical) maxillary skeletal expansion.
The expansion screws are available in 8mm, 10mm and 12mm stainless steel. The MSE uses four titanium alloy TADs for fixation to the palate and a wrench for activation. It attaches to two molar bands via four legs for stabilization.
Date: Thursday, June 24, 2021 Location: The Forsyth Institute 245 First Street, Cambridge, MA
Overview of MSE fabrication and clinical tips through case studies
Proper placement of MSE and contouring of the supporting arms on the typodont
Inserting micro-implants into the synthetic bone using both the mini-hand-driver and ratchet wrench
Removing micro-implants with the mini-hand-driver
