Lecture topics will include:

  • Nonsurgical orthopedic expansion in adults with MSE
  • Craniofacial vs. dentoalveolar changes with MSE
  • Indications for the use of MSE in children and adults
  • Improving an obstructive nasal/pharyngeal airway with MSE
  • Differences in expansion by RPE, SARPE, MARPE, and MSE
  • Overall concept of MSE, Dx and Tx planning, and patient selection
  • New and improved MSE and future direction

Dr Won Moon, DDS, MS

The MSE is a version of the Micro-implant Assisted Rapid Palatal Expander (MARPE) and was introduced to the market in 2010.

The MSE is capable of producing dramatic (non-surgical) maxillary skeletal expansion.

The expansion screws are available in 8mm, 10mm and 12mm stainless steel. The MSE uses four titanium alloy TADs for fixation to the palate and a wrench for activation. It attaches to two molar bands via four legs for stabilization.
